											- 10 Things You Need to Know

Jack3d is an ultra-concentrated pre-workout supplement. The company makes the case about taking your game to the next level; you’ll need the right ingredients at the right amounts. It requires a label highlighting the dosage in this formula. The only quantity listed is caffeine at 135 milligrams per serving. The remainder of the ingredients is in a proprietary blend.

When the company talks about taking your game to the next level, we’re talking about energy? Metabolic rate or fat burning? Our research team wanted to get to the bottom, so we gathered the facts about the ingredients and potential side effects of the ingredients. Then, we found research supporting or disproving the effectiveness of the ingredients. Finally, we compiled the details to give you the facts.

Overview

What is Jack3d?

First off, Jack3d is a pre-workout with arginine alpha-ketoglutarate, creatine monohydrate, beta alanine, caffeine, 1,3 dimethylamylamine HCL, and Schisandra chinensis extract. When taken with exercise, it’s supposed to boost energy, pumps, and focus. One scoop is a serving, but we’ve found users taking up to three.

Jack3d used to be available from USP Labs. It looks now like the only place you can buy it from is eBay and small supplement companies online. We like that there are so many positive reviews and the ingredients are easy to find, but let’s see what some of the research says:

The Jack3d supplement is a pre-workout formula that comes in powder, created by USP Labs. USP Labs has claimed that Jack3d is one of the most efficient ways to improve performance at the gym.

The product is supposed to enhance everything related to efficiency, fatigue, muscle performance, resistance, and more when exercising.

Yet, the Jack3d advanced formula comes with potentially dangerous ingredients, according to some researchers. But still, Jack3d is a bodybuilding supplement used by millions of people around the world.

Jack3d and Jack3d Advanced formula have been discontinued.

How Was Jack3d Created?

There’s no firm date for when Jack3d was initially released. Some studies and data indicate that it might have been released into the market in 2008 by USP Labs. The Jack3d Label wasn’t the same, it was then called Jacked, but as the company started to face copyright problems with other supplements of the same name, they had to change it to Jack3d USPLabs.

In 2012, the product changed from merely Jack3d to Jack3d Advanced Formula. Yet it wasn’t until 2015, after the product was changed both in label and composition, that it was named Jack3d again, and it stayed that way.

The significant change with Jack3d was after the ingredient dimethylamylamine (DMAA) was removed from the formula. USP Labs, in particular, came under fire for including DMAA in a few of their workout formulations, including OxyElite Pro and the original Jack3d recipe.

Here is a synopsis of an FDA warning letter from 2013:

“In a public warning late Thursday, the Food and Drug Administration said that the stimulant (DMAA)  did not qualify as a legal dietary supplement ingredient and that it could raise blood pressure, causing health problems.”

Today, we can find Jack3d with the same composition and formula, but with another label. We can also find Jack3d Micro, a product of the same type but without the ingredient DMAA.

As of March 2019, USPLabs has ceased operations as part of a plea agreement in a criminal case that included claims of fraud and a possible connection between a distributor and an outbreak of illness in 2013, shares Natural Products Insider.

Additionally, in March 2019, USPlabs and S.K. Laboratories pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges regarding a “scheme to fraudulently sell workout supplements,” specifically, Jack3d Up and OxyElite Pro, according to The United States Department of Justice.

Ingredients

Jack3D Ingredients

The Jack3D supplement supposedly increases metabolism, improves performance, enhances muscle resistance and recovering, and even helps to build muscle faster and more efficiently. This is all possible thanks to the ingredients that compose the product. The blend or mix created on Jack3D has been subjecting of many scandals and studies, but to give you an idea, here’s what this supplement comes with:

Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AAKG)

Jack3d advanced formula and the original one come with this ingredient, as one of the most important and the reason it feels like the supplement can give a “pumped performance” for strength, resistance, and overall muscle recovery. However, this amino acid has been studied before in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. It has delivered little to no result in performance, resistance, or strength in muscles.

Creatine

Found in most sports supplements in the world, it is said that creatine helps to improve muscle mass exponentially, as one of the most important amino acids. It has been studied many times in the past and has delivered different results, making it a controversial ingredient. One study by Sports Health, for example, says that creatine helps to improve muscle performance, recovery, and growth.

A second study published in the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise found that muscle got thicker and more resistant following creatine use. Another study by the Current Protein & Peptide Science, affirms that the ingredient is safe, yet it is not as effective as expected.

Caffeine

Another common ingredient in most sports supplements, caffeine is said to promote weight loss, focus, energy, and gives an excellent enhancement of performance in physical activities. But according to certain studies, the effectiveness of caffeine in supplements is yet to be proved entirely. A Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation study on soccer players with caffeine and arginine supplementation proved that performance, resistance, or strength couldn’t be improved. Another study (African Journal of Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicines) affirms that it can decrease oxidative stress, stimulating hypertrophy in muscles and performance.

Beta Alanine

Known for having similar effects to caffeine, beta-alanine boosts energy, improves endurance, increases resistance, and helps athletes and bodybuilders to have a longer and more efficient training train. However, beta alanine is an amino acid and helps create carnosine in the muscle, both helpful in increasing performance and recovery.

And of course, beta alanine has been the subject of many studies regarding sports and supplementation. One study published in the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise affirms that the amino acid helps to improve carnosine accumulation, which is related to better resistance and endurance in sports.

Dymethylamylamine-HCI (DMAA)

A derivation of geranium stems oil, known for improving focus exponentially. DMAA boosts cardio performance, makes exercise a lot easier, and eventually enhances blood flow.

However, this ingredient has been recently banned in many countries due to its side effects and possible life-threatening results. The FDA eventually published a statement to avoid distributing and to merchandise of any supplement with DMAA in the USA.

Schizandrol

The Schisandra Chinensis is a Russian flower whose extract can help to improve “muscle-mind” connection, helping to improve focus and muscle efficiency. It is an ingredient found in many supplements and medicine related to hormone level regulation and decreased stress levels.

L-Citrulline

Another amino acid with a similar effect than arginine. After the Jack3d DMAA had to be taken out of the supplement, USP Labs added citrulline to hopefully make the product work the same way. It is believed to be pretty helpful when it comes to improving performance and resistance to fatigue, according to a Biochemical Genetics study.

So, as you see, USP Labs Jack3d is not entirely healthy. Even though most Jack3d reviews approve the product as effective, its use can potentially cause health problems. Nowadays, however, Jack3d USPLabs is entirely DMAA free.

Jack3d how to take

Directions

How To Take Jack3d?

GNC Jack3d is a supplement that helps athletes and bodybuilders maintain more resistance and improve their performance exponentially.  However, not everyone knows how to take it, and some of them might need to avoid its intake.

Here’s how the product should be taken:

For beginners, it is recommended to take only one scoop or one half-scoop before any physical activity. The same goes for women and smaller individuals. This way, they can avoid any type of side effects like dizziness or headaches. Some reviewers confirm that starting with half of a serving is better, and to slowly increase the intake within one or two weeks based on tolerance.

For those who want to mix Jack3d label with other products, it is recommended to consider the number of amino acids and other energy-boosting ingredients. However, only one cup is recommended when it is going to be blended with other supplements.

For Jack3d bodybuilding doses, it is said that one to two scoops are enough. Men who want to get extra performance can take up to 2 scoops, but only when the body is already accustomed to the product. For women, the maximum dose should be 1.5 scoops.

The product should always be taken at least 30 minutes before training. Even though some people may have faster metabolisms, it is recommended that to avoid digestion trouble; some users should take it 40 minutes pre-workout.

Does it Work?

Does Jack3d Work?

Jack3d, neither the original formula nor the current versions, have been clinically studied. Pre-workout formulas are relatively new in the grand scheme, and there is not a body of research on their shorter or longer-term effects.

However, various reviews and statements from users recommend the product as efficient and beneficial. Yet other reviews have also commented on some side effects and potentially dangerous conditions.

In an article from The Guardian posted four years ago, a man talks about how the product benefitted his training, “The focus was amazing. I had tunnel vision. The motivation was mad. I’d never pushed myself that hard in the gym. I could do anything, and my muscles never felt like they would tear. I didn’t feel any burning, just that I could lift whatever I wanted.”

However, despite the significant effectiveness, after five months of taking the product, the man reported that he had some side effects, “After a few months, I was taking three and sometimes four scoops. I was beginning to get worried about the way my heart started racing when I was exercising hard. Then one day, my muscles suddenly failed in the middle of an exercise, and I crashed.9.”

The man affirmed that the USP Labs Jack3d product gave him heart racing conditions, which felt wrong and possibly unhealthy. The man stopped using the product despite the effectiveness and benefits it brought when it came to exercise.

On the other hand, there is a study published in the August 2017 issue of Nutrients, which doesn’t specifically assess the current Jack3d product but gives an idea of what supplement with arginine, caffeine, beta-alanine, and other amino acids can bring to the body. This study confirmed that products of this kind could improve the ergogenic capacities of athletes.

For its ingredients, there’s enough validity to say that they work. When it comes to arginine AAKG, for example, there is a study published in Nutrition, which approves the use of the amino acid as safe and beneficial, both for performance, resistance, and even strength in muscles.

Another study from the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise journal shows that beta-alanine can enhance training density, fatigue resistance, and even performance of muscles and strength. This study was made on cyclist with sprint-interval training, where subjects got an improved activity on their bodies after taking beverages on beta-alanine.

Jack3d benefits

Benefits

Jack3d Benefits

In short, we can say that Jack3d offers the following benefits:

  • Improved strength, energy, focus, endurance, muscle recovery, and intensity during workouts.
  • Fast and easy to digest
  • Surprising tastes, including Fruit Punch, Watermelon, Dragonberry, Pineapple, Pink Lemonade, Blue Raspberry, and Mango Margarita.
  • Easy to prepare
  • A sugar and carbohydrate-free formula

Despite these benefits, the product was believed to be dangerous because of the DMAA ingredient. Today, the product doesn’t include this compound, and while the product is safer, some long-time reviewers have claimed that the product doesn’t have the “kick” that it once did.

Side Effects

Jack3d Side Effects

When it comes to side effects and conditions related to Jack3d, we can name a few. We don’t trust this product for several reasons, and the possible side effects are some of them, especially since the product has been banned in multiple countries, including the UK, as stated in The Daily Mail.

When it comes to ingredients like Arginine AAKG, there are also other studies that can affirm the product could cause additional adverse effects. In a Human & Experimental Toxicology research from 2009, this component was studied on several patients suffering from headaches, vomiting, syncope, and palpitations. The common factor among all of them was arginine AAKG.

Lastly, we have a study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, which approves the use of another ingredient found in Jack3d. Creatine. One of the main components of the product, creatine, is said to increase performance on physical activities with no side effects at all, making it a safe ingredient in the supplement.

Despite and in accordant with these studies, overall, we can’t recommend the product as a safe bet. It is important to note that the product, however, in its actual composition, doesn’t have any DMAA.

Jack3d lawsuits

Lawsuits

Jack3d Lawsuits and Scandals

As you’ve read, Jack3d by USP Labs has been linked to many cases. This eventually escalated to lawsuits and bans of the product in many countries, including the UK, Australia, and the US.

The product was later regulated after many years under investigation. According to many sources, six executives of the USP Labs Company were facing criminal charges due to Jack3d DMAA in the product, wire fraud, and even money laundering.

The indictment from the FDA against USP Labs levied many charges against the product, prohibiting the sale of the product and manufacturing within the US borders. The same happened in the UK and Australia the same year.

The sheer volume of litigation against USP Labs, especially involving Jack3d, is a major red flag to us.

Jack3d – Scientifically Approved?

As you already know, the Jack3d supplement caused health problems with many users before the DMAA was taken out of its formula. Today, however, the product is sold DMAA-free, so it is safer and once again available to be sold in the US and other countries which had previously banned it.

Since the Jack3d ingredients were changed and DMAA was taken out of the final product, there have not been any studies regarding its safety. This makes us a little hesitant to say it is safe or that it is useful, especially since the Jack3d formula has changed at least three times over 10 years.

Research is extremely important for supplements this potent. The caffeine will boost energy and creatine hydrates the muscle, but it’s the stimulants – particularly dimethylamylamine – that make us reluctant to endorse Jack3d.  There are more than a few reports of severe Jack3d side effects. Some have even made it to the news. At DietSupplement, science gives us the inside story, and with this supplement, the information raises red flags.

Dr. Anthony Dugarte chimes in on the subject with, “There are several natural and safe ways of boosting energy – this should be the first place to start. If you still feel your energy is too low, speak to a physician.”

Bottom Line

The Bottom Line – Does Jack3d Work?

Are we searching for the internet to find some Jack3d? Well, the caffeine and creatine are good additions, but we are very hesitant about suggesting this one. Dimethylamylamine has been associated with some strong side effects, and there is simply not enough science on effects of the current formula.

In conclusion, we can’t recommend Jack3d. It is a product with very limited research studies in support of its efficiency or benefits, and it is a supplement which has been subject to previous lawsuits and scandals involving life-threatening cases. The product has been redesigned many times and has changed its ingredients as well.
